Freddie Lynn Mahan

Freddie Lynn Mahan, 85, of Greenville died on Monday, May 26, 2025 at his residence. He was born on January 18, 1940 in Powderly, KY, the son of the late George Mahan, Jr. and AvaNell Cobb Mahan. Freddie was an electrician with TVA and was a devoted member of Greenville United Methodist Church, always willing to serve in whatever area was needed. He loved animals, bird watching, and protecting children, volunteering for years at Greenville Elementary School as the Unofficial Parking Officer. He dearly loved his wife Sandy of 62 years who he would say he had loved at first sight. A loyal Marine all his life, he was always present when needed and was loved by many friends and his family who he loved in return, along with his faithful dog Kenzie. His death on Memorial Day was appropriate as we celebrate him and his life and honor him as a true American hero who served his country and his family and church family. He will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held at a future date. Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Mahan of Greenville, KY; two daughters, Stacey Mahan Hibbs of Madisonville, KY and Mary Crawford of Madisonville, KY; two granddaughters, Ashley (Eric) Legate of Madisonville, KY and Macy Crawford of Bradenton, FL; two great grandchildren, Hayden and Maddy Legate of Madisonville, KY.
