Earl Leland Cross, 62, of Owensboro, passed away on June 1, 2025. He was born, on October 23, 1962, in Beaufort, South Carolina to the late Earl W. and H. Louine Clarkston Cross.
Earl had a real zest for life and filled it with things that brought joy and excitement. He was a die-hard University of Nebraska Cornhuskers fan — game days were always a big deal. He had a passion for music, especially marching band, working with the Henderson County, KY and Union City, TN band programs for over 20 years. Earl was a world champion in the sport of powerlifting and received 1st place in the 2003 Power Sports Nationals in the Natural National USA Drug Free division – a remarkable accomplishment that spoke to his strength, focus, and determination. When things slowed down, you could find him out on the golf course or keeping up with all things Kentucky sports. Whatever the hobby, he went all in and loved sharing it with others.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 33 years, Tina Scott; his children, Evan Russell Scott, Leland Winston Cross and Maggie Elizabeth Scott; his siblings, Bryan (Audrey) Cross, Robert (Summer) Cross, Cynthia Mejean; and loved one Tina Hess.
A Celebration of Life will be held in Henderson, KY at a later date.
