Bill Bishop

July 26, 1943 - June 6, 2025

Bill Bishop, loving husband of Margaret, transferred his last earthly breath to his eternal breath on June 6, 2025.

Bill lived at Harned, KY. Many years ago, he told his girlfriend, Margaret McCamish, to take a drink of Harned spring water and she would never want to leave. She drank. She stayed. They married and loved each other for sixty years.

Bill was a farmer. He liked to work – all the time. He raised crops, a large garden and enjoyed watching and feeding the cows.

Bill was very helpful. He loved to tell you what and how you should do any and all things. He was often called “The Fonz”, because he was never wrong. He may have been mistaken, but never wrong. His best and favorite advice was, “You better save that money for a rainy day”.

Bill was loved. He was spoiled by his wife Margaret. Just as much, Margaret was spoiled by Bill. No one, but God, could give more love than the love they had for each other.

Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother Elliott and Margaret Bishop; brothers James, Bobby Joe and half brother Harold; sisters Eltie Ferry, Lucille Lyons, Lorene Compton, Janie Compton, Bessie Cravens and Barbara Sue Miller.

Bill is survived by his wife Margaret; sons Jim and Dennis (Judy); grandchildren Dylan, Hunter (Amy) and Trevor (Emily); bonus family Raleigh (Sonja) Shelton, John Decker and Makena Shelton and great granddaughter Piper Leigh Shelton.

Sisters: Annie Compton, Doris Jean McVicar and Darlene Dowell

Brothers: Donnie Bishop and Kenny Bishop

Good friend: Donnie Bruington

Bill loved his large family and they loved him. He and Margaret attended Harned Methodist Church. Bill’s love for the Lord was shown by his generosity and help he gave to and for others. Bill will be missed.

Funeral services will be held at Harned Methodist Church on Monday, June 9, 2025, at 4 PM with burial in the Harned Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday beginning at 10 AM. All times are central.
