The Green River Area Development District (GRADD) is accepting nominations for its Women’s 50 Over 50 awards, an initiative that honors women age 50 and older who have made significant contributions to their communities through public service.

The awards are open to women across GRADD’s seven-county region: Daviess, Hancock, Henderson, McLean, Ohio, Union, and Webster counties.

“These women are often the pillars of their communities,” said GRADD Executive Director Joanna Shake. “They inspire those around them by demonstrating the power of continued leadership at every stage of life.”

Shake said the idea for the program was sparked after she noticed Forbes magazine’s national “50 Over 50” list.

“In 2022, I was at an airport when I saw the Forbes list celebrating high-achieving women in our nation,” Shake said. “I wanted to replicate that regionally to honor civically engaged women in public service and nonprofit work within our communities.”

Honorees will be recognized in GRADD’s official 50 Over 50 publication and celebrated during a luncheon in March 2026.

Nominations are open through July 11. Community members are encouraged to submit the names of women whose leadership and dedication have had a lasting impact on the region.
