A day after losing to Evansville, the Owensboro Post 9 Bombers bounced back with an impressive 6-0 shutout win over Post 167 to finish their Jimmy V fundraiser tournament 2-1. C Vowels, Colton Carver, and Jagger Pate each drove in a run, while Brady Atwell finished 2-3 and scored twice.
Carter Kimmel started on the mound, throwing three shut out innings, allowing only three hits, and striking out seven. Carver pitched in relief, throwing three shutout innings and striking out four.
“Today we got solid pitching from Carter Kimmel and Colton Carver,” Owensboro Bombers head coach Matt Freeman said. “That set the tone for our guys. We were aggressive at the plate and played clean defense.”
The Bombers return to action on Friday when they take on Tupelo.
