Updated July 1 — The Daviess County Coroner’s Office has identified the deceased as 30-year-old Joshua Hardison, of Owensboro. Hardison’s body has been transported to the medical examiner’s office in Louisville for an autopsy, according to OPD.
The other victim who sustained a gunshot wound during the incident was 52-year-old Kelly Anderson.

A man is dead and a woman is recovering after a shooting late Sunday night at an apartment on Hughes Avenue, according to the Owensboro Police Department.
A release from OPD said officers responded shortly before midnight to reports of a disturbance and gunfire in the 1800 block of Hughes Avenue. Upon arrival, police said they found two individuals suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
According to OPD, a woman was located in the living room of the apartment with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was transported to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
A male victim was found in a bedroom with a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to OHRH, where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.
The release added that detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Technicians from the Evidence Collection Unit responded to the scene. Preliminary findings indicate that one or more individuals entered the apartment, leading to a confrontation and gunfire, police said.
According to OPD, two individuals were still inside the apartment when officers arrived and were taken to the Owensboro Police Department for questioning. Two firearms were recovered from the scene.
Investigators are continuing to canvass the neighborhood for potential witnesses or video surveillance footage. The investigation remains ongoing.
