Owensboro police are investigating a shooting incident that damaged multiple vehicles early Monday morning in the area of Venable Avenue and West 12th Street. A stolen handgun was recovered, and a person of interest has been identified, according to police officials.
Owensboro Police Department Public Information Officer Mark Hammonds said officers responded at approximately 12:32 a.m. on July 21 after reports of gunfire.
According to a police report, 16 shell casings were recovered. Hammonds said they were found in a parking lot in the 1000 block of Venable Avenue. He added that a gun matching the caliber of the casings was recovered nearby, and the firearm was determined to be stolen.
Hammonds said two vehicles and one building sustained damage during the incident.
The incident is believed to be isolated, and a person of interest has been identified, according to Hammonds.
