A new interior design and home staging business is preparing to launch in Owensboro. Nelson Home & Co., founded by Josh and Will Nelson, is set to officially open in September 2025, offering personalized and refined design services for clients throughout the tri-state.
“Nelson Home & Co. was really founded with a shared passion between my husband Will and I for creating meaningful and beautifully designed spaces,” Josh said. “It’s something I’ve carried with me for years.”
The couple brings a diverse mix of experience to the venture — Josh with a background in sales leadership and brand strategy, and Will with experience in banking, graphic design, and cosmetology. After moving back to Owensboro in July, they decided the timing was right to turn their long-time vision into a business.
“We’re starting with a focus on refined interiors and seasonal decorating with personal design,” Josh said. “And going into 2026, we’ll be launching the home staging portion of our business, which we’re really excited about.”
At launch, Nelson Home & Co. will offer full-service interior design — from whole-home projects to single-room refreshes — along with holiday and seasonal decorating (including installation and take-down), event styling, and one-on-one design consultations.
The home staging side of the business will focus on helping real estate professionals and homebuilders prepare properties for quicker and more impactful sales.
“When you stage a home with intent and design, the client can see their own vision when they walk through the door,” Josh said. “That’s what we want to bring to the community.”
Nelson said the company will aim to make design feel both elevated and approachable.
“What sets us apart is our ability to blend refined, timeless aesthetics with practical and livable designs,” he said. “We listen closely, design with intention, and lead with warmth and professionalism.”
As for how the business hopes to contribute to the local community, Josh said their goal is to be flexible and meet people where they are, whether they need a full redesign or a quick seasonal update.
“We want homeowners to feel like their space is thoughtful and beautifully theirs,” he said.
The response so far from friends, family, and potential clients has been overwhelmingly positive, he added.
“We’ve felt extremely supported and encouraged,” Josh said. “Looking ahead, I hope we become a trusted name in design and staging across the tri-state, and maybe even add a showroom and team down the road.”
