Danny Franklin O'Donoghue

Danny F. O’Donoghue, age 73 of McDaniels, KY, passed away July 31, 2025, at Breckinridge Memorial Hospital. He was born in Breckinridge County on December 16, 1951, one of fourteen children of the late James Franklin “Buddy” and Mary Kathleen Brown O’Donoghue. Danny was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and very devout in his faith. He served as a County Committee member for Farm Service Agency, a position that he has held for many years.

Danny’s passion was farming. He worked from daylight to dark and his love of the land showed in his work. He passed his knowledge of agriculture and love to continue farming to one of his grandsons. Danny loved his family and was very devoted to them. He enjoyed fishing and spending time on Rough River Lake with them. He was very kind, thoughtful, loyal and a man of his word. He and his wife were known not only by family, but friends as well as “Papaw Danny and Mamaw Pat”.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Eddie and Ricky O’Donoghue, Darlene Camp, Connie Webster and her husband Sonny, Sandy Priest and brother-in-law Joe Hess.

2 daughters: Tracey Danzer (Joe) of Owensboro, KY and Rhonda Priest (Bryan) of McDaniels, KY

9 grandchildren: Luke Priest (Victoria), Tanner, Logan and Hadley Priest, Garrison Danzer (Hope), Will, Cooper, Houston and Henry Danzer

8 brothers and sisters: Denise Heavrin (David) of McQuady, KY; Cathy Moore (Greg) of Vanzant, KY; Joe O’Donoghue (Lorraine) of Westview, KY; Sarah “Tooter” Bruner (Brad) of Harned, KY; Mary Jo Hess of Hardinsburg, KY; Ron O’Donoghue (Tessa) of Kingswood, KY; Don O’Donoghue of McDaniels, KY and Kim McCarty (Chris) of Hardinsburg, KY.

Brother and sister-in-law: Janice O’Donoghue of McDaniels, KY and Brent Priest of Hardinsburg, KY

Many nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

Funeral services will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at 11 AM with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Monday, 3:30 – 8 PM and Tuesday, 8 – 10:15 AM. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 PM on Monday. All times are central.
