Charlotte Vail, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at the Heartford House in Owensboro, Kentucky, surrounded by loved ones on August 3, 2025. She was 92 years old. Born on October 14, 1932, in Pennsylvania, Charlotte was the daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Muesler. Growing up in the Keystone State, she learned the values of hard work, kindness, and creativity that would carry her through her life. Charlotte relocated to Owensboro many years ago, where she continued to build a life full of love and memories that will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
Charlotte’s greatest passions in life were quilting and baking. She poured her heart into her craft, creating quilts that not only warmed the bodies but also the souls of those fortunate enough to receive one. Her kitchen was always full of the comforting smells of fresh-baked goods, and her peanut butter balls and zucchini bread were legendary. Friends and family will forever cherish the warmth and care she put into each stitch and each recipe.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Vail; and her siblings, Dorothy, Naomi, Frank, John, and Chas. Though they are no longer with us, their memory lived on in Charlotte’s stories, her quiet strength, and her unwavering love.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Cheryl Parker and Bob Vail (Lisa); grandchildren, Season (James), Rodney (Kristin), Brad, and Monica; great-grandkids, Molly, Julie, and Mason; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her deeply. Her legacy of love, warmth, and creativity will endure through all the lives she touched.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at Hillcrest and the Heartford House who supported Charlotte throughout her later years. A private family service was held in her honor.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Heartford House, Hospice of Western Kentucky, 3419 Wathens Crossing, Owensboro, KY 42301, where she received hospice care in her final days.
Rest in peace, Charlotte. You will be forever missed, and your love will continue to inspire those who knew you.
