Calvin J. McHenry, 59, of Owensboro, KY, passed away on August 3, 2025. He was born on July 8, 1966, to the late Franklin Smith and Yvette D. McHenry.
Calvin, a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Church, was a beloved presence in the lives of family and friends. He found deep joy in gathering with loved ones, sharing home-cooked meals, and expressing his creativity through the arts. Whether sketching, drawing, or etching, Calvin brought a quiet passion and thoughtfulness to everything he created. He will be remembered for his warmth, his devotion to family, and the enduring beauty found in both his art and his everyday life.
Those left to cherish Calvin’s memory include his wife, Tina McHenry; his children, Steven Johnson, Sebastian McHenry, Chrissy (fiancée, Ethan [Calvin’s granddaughter, Luna]) McHenry, Calvin Jerod “CJ” McHenry, and Paul Bray; his siblings, Sharon (Carlos) Julius, Theresa Greer, Chris McHenry, Franklin “Boo” Wells, Alonzo Wells, Andre Wells, Tom Lavery, and Carol (Scott) Bartlett, Kim (Jen) Boone; his goddaughter, Alex Allen; 14 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
Along with his parents, Calvin is preceded in death by his grandmother, Aurelia “Granny” Hamilton, and his cousin and friend, Roger.
Services will be held at 4:30 p.m., on Sunday, August 10. 2025, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory. Friends and family are invited to visitation, at the funeral home, on Sunday, August 10. 2025, from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations made to Norton Children’s Hospital at 231 E Chestnut St, Louisville, KY 40202. Envelopes will be made available at the funeral home.
