Rita D. Carman, age 76 of Garfield, KY passed away August 4, 2025, at her residence. She was born in Custer, KY on May 31, 1949. She was a civil service employee and retired after 34 years of service. She enjoyed flower gardening, deer hunting and being outside. She was known for her sense of humor and infectious laugh.
She was preceded in death by her parents Nelse Mabe and Mae Ramsey Dowell, her stepfather Roy Lee Dowell, stepson Kenneth Carman and father and mother-in-law Doc and Ruby Carman.
Rita is survived by Wayne Carman, her husband of 47 years.
4 children: Jennifer Peyser (Scott) of Brentwood, TN; Jason Carman (Kasey) of Garfield, KY; Jessica Carman of Irvington, KY and Dewayne Carman (Susan) of Owensboro, KY
16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren
2 brothers: Ron Mabe (Gail) of Louisville, KY and Royce Mabe (Jane) of Kingswood, KY
2 sisters-in-law: Bonnie Severs (Bill) and Louise Carman of Garfield, KY

Funeral services will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 11 AM with burial in the Custer Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, 4-8 PM and Thursday, 8 – 11 AM. All times are central.
