Dutch Bros Coffee is officially making its way to Owensboro.

Rumors of the move began circulating months ago, but a company spokesperson confirmed Wednesday that the popular coffee chain is opening a location locally. He said this marks Dutch Bros’ entrance into the Owensboro market as part of its broader expansion across Kentucky and Southern Indiana.

Dutch Bros will occupy the south end of the three-unit building that also houses Rock N’ Roll Sushi, located along Frederica Street in front of the former Texas Gas building. Interior work was underway on Wednesday.

“We’re thrilled to bring Dutch Bros to Owensboro,” said Phil Radcliff of TRIO Commercial Property Group, who, alongside Justin Baker and Michael Tabor, represents Dutch Bros in their site selection efforts across the region. “Frederica Street is one of the city’s most active retail corridors, and we believe this location will allow Dutch Bros to plug into the energy of Owensboro and become part of the daily routine for many residents.”

An opening date to be announced in the future.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Dutch Bros and their ‘Broista’ culture to the Shoppes at Frederica – where their mission to make a massive difference, one cup at a time, means you’ll experience genuine human connections and community care that goes far beyond just great coffee,” a spokesperson from Gulfstream Commercial Services said in a statement to OT.

The expansive drink menu includes “Dutch Faves,” seasonal specials, classic and protein coffees, lattes, matcha, energy drinks, lemonades, iced teas, shakes, smoothies, and hot cocoas.

Dutch Bros was founded in 1992 by brothers Dane and Travis Boersma, who launched the business with a pushcart and a double-head espresso machine in Grants Pass, Oregon.

“While espresso-based beverages are still at the core of what we do, Dutch Bros now offers a wide variety of unique, customizable cold and hot beverages that delight a broad array of customers,” the company states on its investor relations website.

The company now operates more than 1,000 locations across nearly 20 states.
