Vonda Marie Cecil Morris, 65, passed away Aug. 9, 2025, she was born on Aug. 14, 1959, in Owensboro to Vohnell “Keith” Cecil and the late Robert L. Cecil. Vonda graduated from Owensboro Catholic High school and from Owensboro Community College Nursing Program. She was a life-long member of St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, James P. “Asroe” Morris; her son, Josh (Amber) Morris; her grandchildren, Grayson Morris and Genevieve Morris; her mother, Vohnell Mullican; her sisters, Becky (Chuck) Murphy Snowden, Sandra (Steve) Shacklett, Jill (Jeremy) Rumps; her brothers, Mike (Sherri Pate) Cecil, Tim “Wally” (Melody) Cecil; along with several nieces and nephews.
Along with her father she is preceded in death by her brother, Robert L. Cecil Jr.; and her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Clinford “Shorty” and Louise “Wig” Morris.
Services will be at 11 a.m. on, Aug. 14, 2025, at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Peter Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to visitation on Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2025, from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m., with prayers being said at 6:30 p.m. at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory, and again on Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025, at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
