The City of Whitesville will hold a public hearing next week to receive comments from residents on proposed 2025 property tax rates.

The hearing will take place at 6 p.m. on August 19 in the Commission Room at City Hall, 10436 Main Cross St., with parking available in front and behind the building.

The city is proposing a rate of $0.0690 per $100 of assessed valuation on real property, which is expected to generate $22,333. According to officials, that is down from last year’s rate of $0.0740, which produced $20,505.

Officials said the compensating rate, which excludes new property, is $0.0640 and projected to generate $20,715. Revenue from new property is expected to total $1,828.

For personal property, excluding vehicles and boats, the city said the proposed rate is $0.1821 per $100 of assessed value, which would generate $1,686.

Officials added that any additional tax revenue from higher assessment values will be proportionally allocated across city departments and programs funded by local tax dollars to help meet operational costs for basic services.

Questions or comments can be submitted to City Clerk Monique Brooks by mail at P.O. Box 51, Whitesville, KY 42378, by email at [email protected], or by fax at 270-233-5248.
