Publix Super Markets has announced a second location is coming to Owensboro — this time on the west side of town.
A company representative said the store, which they called Publix at Yellow Banks Square, will be located near the southwest corner of Parrish Avenue and Carter Road. The 50,325-square-ft. Publix Super Market will be adjacent to a Publix Liquors, according to a release from the company.
The property connects to Parrish via a small lot between McDonald’s and The Big Dipper. It also connects to a long stretch of Carter Road just south of Lee’s Chicken. The property is owned by Murphy’s Investments, LLC, which purchased the land in 2023 for $2.1 million, according to documents on the Daviess County PVA website.
“We are excited to continue our growth across Kentucky with our second location in Owensboro,” said media relations manager Jared Glover. “We look forward to making grocery shopping a pleasure for our new customers soon.”
An opening timeframe has not yet been determined.
In 2024, Publix announced it was building a 50,325-square-ft. store in Gateway Commons off KY 54. That store will employ approximately 150 associates, according to a release at the time of the announcement.
Work is well underway on that store, with some framework already going up. However, an opening date has not been announced for that location.
Publix currently operates 1,412 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Kentucky. For more information on their entry into Kentucky, visit their Hello, Kentucky microsite.
