On August 11, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family, Faye Wilson Love passed away at the age of 85. She was born January 27, 1940, in Utica, Kentucky, to the late Beverly and Nell Henderson Wilson. As one of eight children, Faye grew up surrounded by laughter, music, and memories that stayed with her all her life.
A 1957 graduate of Utica High School, Faye went on to attend Owensboro Business School. She made Kentucky her home for most of her years before moving to Jacksonville, Florida, to be near her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—the treasures of her life. Faye’s greatest joy was her family, followed closely by her deep love for animals—whom she also considered family.
Faye had a gift for making the simplest things beautiful. As a young mother, she sewed dresses for her daughters and, from the leftover fabric, stitched matching outfits for their dolls. She extended that same care to the community, making clothes for many children around Utica. She had a knack for turning “not much” into more than enough, her love and devotion filling any gaps that money could not.
Music was her lifelong companion. A self-taught pianist, she played for more than 70 years—sometimes in bluegrass bands, sometimes at family gatherings singing with her sisters, sometimes in the little churches that dotted the countryside around Utica, and always with a joy that reached the hearts of those listening. She also taught herself to paint, capturing landscapes, portraits, and animals with natural talent.
She enjoyed playing cards—insisting on being the scorekeeper, a role she claimed so she could tip the points her way. She adored her many nieces and nephews, just as she cherished her own children and grandchildren.
Faye was a member of Utica Baptist Church and later Southpoint Community Church in Jacksonville.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Billy, Dale, Wayne, and Jerry Wilson; and sisters Marian (Sis) Atherton and Shirley Troutman.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Bev Love Mitchell (Darrell) and Sheree Love Stone of Jacksonville; grandsons, Logan (Magan) Lowery of Jacksonville, Benjamin (Meredith) Lowery of Oxford, Mississippi, and Adam Mitchell of Jacksonville; great-grandchildren Hunter and Ella Lowery of Jacksonville; her brother BJ Wilson of Owensboro; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home and Crematory. Burial to follow at Utica Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Utica Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 415 State Route 1207, Utica, KY 42376.
