Marcella “Ted” Kinder, age 92 of Cloverport, KY passed away August 13, 2025, at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law. She was born in Sample, KY on November 19, 1932, daughter of the late Morris and Mary Logan Jolly Hickerson. Ted, as she was affectionately known by family and friends, was a member of Sample Methodist Church, Breckinridge County Homemakers, Sacajawea Festival Committee, where she was known as the “baked bean lady”, Breckinridge County Bluegrass Association and former member of the Cloverport Eastern Star. She and her husband were caretakers of the Jolly Sample Cemetery for years. Ted enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, canning, quilting and time spent with her granddaughter and great granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jarret Kinder, who died August 13, 2023, siblings Henry Lee Hickerson, Vena May Hickerson and Jewel Shelman.

Funeral services will be held at Sample Methodist Church on Monday, August 18, 2025 at 11 AM with burial in the Jolly Sample Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Sunday, 1:30 – 6 PM and Monday, 8 – 10:15 AM. All times are central.
