The Owensboro Police Department is investigating a report of nearly $183,000 being stolen from a church.
OPD Public Information Officer Mark Hammonds said the theft was reported from Chin Emmanuel Baptist Church.
According to a heavily redacted police report from OPD, $182,996.57 was stolen from the church’s bank account. The report indicates that the incident occurred on May 30 but was not reported until August 12.
Hammonds said OPD is not releasing any other details at this time, other thanthat the case remains under investigation.
