A bridge replacement project on U.S. 60 West near Stanley is set to begin on August 25, with traffic delays expected to last through the end of the year.

During the project, U.S. 60 will be reduced to one lane between the 5.19 mile point and Wimsatt Road (5.38 mile point), according to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The contractor will replace one side at a time to keep a lane open, with alternating traffic controlled by flaggers or temporary signals.

Completion is expected just before Christmas, according to KYTC.

KYTC officials said recent inspections found deterioration in the bridge’s support structure, making a full replacement necessary to avoid imposing weight restrictions.

Built in 1950, the bridge carries more than 2,500 vehicles daily and connects Daviess and Henderson counties.
