The Daviess County Sheriff’s Office is warning against false and inaccurate information circulating online regarding a reported assault at a Whitesville business. Officials also stressed they are not looking for a specific truck despite some online comments suggesting otherwise, and they have not shared any descriptions of a suspect.
DCSO previously said they were investigating a reported assault at the former Black Cat Bar in the 11000 block of KY 54. Authorities said the victim was treated at the scene by members of the Daviess County and Whitesville fire departments before being transported by AMR Ambulance Service to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
According to a release from DCSO, detectives have conducted a canvass of the area, recorded numerous interviews, viewed multiple videos, and submitted evidence to the Kentucky State Police lab. Officials said the investigation is currently focused on a “very narrow” timeline between 4-5 p.m. on August 13.
DCSO said they are not currently looking for and have not requested the public for information regarding a white pickup truck with any type of lightbar. Officials added they have not shared any physical descriptions of a suspect.
“Detectives are grateful for the multitude of information they have received, but would also like to stress that there is a lot of false and inaccurate information circulating on the internet and social media platforms,” the release says. “Please assist detectives by continuing to provide helpful information and by not sharing unverified information.”
To ensure information is accurate and for the latest developments, DCSO will continue to update the public with official media releases that will be shared with media outlets and posted on the DCSO Facebook page.
Detectives with the DCSO General and Forensic investigations units are continuously working on the case.
