A new mural highlighting early learning will be unveiled at Moreland Park on Saturday, and the community is invited to attend. The event will include free books, hot dogs, snacks, and engaging activities for families to enjoy.

Family Fun Saturday at Moreland will run from 10 a.m. to noon. The mural will be located on the back side of the tennis courts.

Families can enjoy crafts, face-painting, and interactive experiences from partners including the Daviess County Public Library, The Center’s Mobile Unit, Imagination Library, Owensboro Parks & Recreation, and the YMCA.

“This new mural is all about early learning, and we are excited for families to interact with it while spending time at Moreland Park,” said Emmy Woosley, Checkmarks Program Coordinator. “For the ribbon cutting, we wanted to celebrate with amazing groups like the library, the Parks Department, the YMCA, The Center, and more to make this a special, and free, event for all families.”

Family Fun Saturday is hosted by Checkmarks in partnership with the Public Life Foundation of Owensboro and other community organizations focused on supporting children and families.

Checkmarks’ mission is to provide dedicated early childhood development resources that will help our community’s kids develop the skills they need for kindergarten and beyond.
