The Kentucky Board of Pharmacy has issued an emergency suspension order against Wilson Family Pharmacy in Owensboro, citing multiple violations and requiring the business to immediately surrender its permit.
According to the suspension order, Wilson Family Pharmacy, located at 2845 West Parrish Avenue, Suite E, held permit number P07713. According to the order, the board alleges the pharmacy allowed employees in restricted areas without a pharmacist present, dispensed medications without lawful prescriptions, and employed an unregistered worker to assist in the practice of pharmacy.
Board investigators reported that controlled substances and legend drugs were not adequately secured, and that medications, including oxycodone/acetaminophen, lorazepam, and antibiotics, were dispensed without prescriptions on several occasions. Records also showed prescriptions were created under the prescriber name “Wilson Rx” and used to provide drugs to a pharmacy technician and others without authorization.
The order states that “continued practice by the permit holder would create imminent risk of harm to the public.” It requires Wilson Family Pharmacy to surrender its license immediately, pending further action by the Board.
OT tried to contact pharmacy representatives. Signs are posted on the door and windows that read “We are closed due to an emergency. We apologize for the inconvenience.”
The pharmacy’s voicemail now similarly tells callers: “Wilson, family pharmacy is closed due to emergency. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. If you need your prescription filled, please call your physician and have it sent to a pharmacy of your choice. We are truly sorry for this inconvenience. Thank you for calling Wilson Family Pharmacy. If you are having a medical emergency, please call 911, or go to the nearest emergency room.”
The case remains under active investigation by the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy.
