James Henry Fleming, Sr.

James Henry Fleming, Sr., 90, of Owensboro, KY, passed away peacefully in his sleep, on September 7, 2025, at Heartland Villa in Lewisport. He was born in Butler County, on August 2, 1935, to the late Fred and Clara James Fleming.

James worked for the City of Owensboro as a backhoe operator and also held positions at several gas stations, some of which he managed himself. Over the years, he owned multiple junkyards and car lots. He had a passion for horse racing, fishing, and NASCAR, but above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family.

Along with his parents, James is preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Helen M, Fleming, and his son, Alan Fleming.

James is survived by his children, James (Karen) Fleming, Jr. and Vickie (LV) Dugger, eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and his brother, Herman Fleming.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at Haley McGinnis Funeral Home and Crematory. Friends and family are invited to visitation, at the funeral home, on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Rosehill-Elmwood Cemetery.
