Shooting 298, Owensboro Catholic beat out Daviess County to win City-County. The Panthers shot 322 to finish second, while Owensboro finished third, shooting 337. Apollo shot 342 to finish fourth, while Trinity (Whitesville) shot 438.

Vince Hayden led the way, shooting 69 and winning the individual. Jace Merritt (3rd, 75), Tristan Logsdon (6th, 77), and JW Wathen (7th, 77) rounded out the team’s top four scores, while Luke Estes shot 78.

Heading into City County, Owensboro Catholic Head Coach Bretnea Harvey acknowledged she had been preaching the same message to her team and wants to see them continue to adhere to it moving forward.

“I have been preaching the same message all season to trust yourself, pick a shot, commit to it, and trust the line,” Harvey said. “Pick a line on your putts, commit to it and trust the line.”

Collin Reynolds shot 75 and finished fourth in the individual, while Jackson Powers (79), Jacob Nolan (81), and Michael Kuhna (87) rounded out the Panthers’ top four scores. With a relatively young team, Daviess County Head Coach Lars King wants his team’s biggest takeaway from City County to hang in there mentally.

“Two days like this make it completely different from what people are watching,” King said. “So hopefully at the end of the day, they can figure out how to hang in there and put together two nine-day rounds even though they had to restart after day one.”

For Owensboro, Walker Gaddis finished second in the individual shooting 73, while Colby Vanover shot 77 and finished fifth. Paxton Divine (93) and Maddox Embry (94) rounded out the team’s top four scores. Moving forward, Head Coach David Hicks wants his team to continue to have fun and realize that they can play with anyone.

Lucas Cambron led the way for the Eagles, shooting 84, while Beau Brock (85), Brady Robbins (85), and McCoy Talor (88) rounded out the team’s top four scores. Head Coach David Lyons was pleased with his team’s performance on the front nine, shooting 23 over, but acknowledged that they battled nerves on the second day. Despite the nerves, Lyons wants his team to realize that they have improved from the year before.

For the Raiders, Finn Williams (99), Zachary Boarman (110), Will Mills (112), and Grant Howard (117) rounded out the team’s top four scores. With a young roster, Head Coach Neil Kirkpatrick was pleased that his team was able to earn some valuable experience.

“It’s good to play with guys that are the caliber of these other schools,” Kirkpatrick said. “I think my guys feel a bit of pressure from that, but overall City-County is a great experience heading into regionals.”
