Barney Joe Rickard, 70, of Owensboro, passed away on September 2, 2025, at Twin Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation. The Daviess County native was born on July 7, 1955, and was the beloved son of the late Myron and Norma Jean Rickard.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Barney served his country with quiet dedication and honor. Barney was a reserved and thoughtful man, speaking only when necessary but always with sincerity. He deeply loved his family and lived a life grounded in simple joys and quiet reflection. An avid NASCAR fan, he cheered for Dale Earnhardt and Ernie Irvan. He also found peace in casting a fishing line into still waters, sketching out a drawing, and watching classic westerns.
In addition to his parents, Barney was preceded in death by his daughters, Laura Kay and Jenny Rickard and brothers, Myron Jack and Richard Lee Rickard.
Those left to cherish his memory include his son, Thad Shane Rickard; brother, Randy (Sherry) Rickard; grandsons, Zoso, Zevin, Zack, Zane, and Zander Rickard; great grandson, Zerxes; as well as many other loving family and friends.
