
Darlene House, 82, of Fordsville, passed away on Friday, October 3, 2025, at UK Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington. Darlene was born on February 24, 1943, in Easton, KY, to the late Herman and Myrtle Richards Sanders. She worked at Kimball Furniture. Darlene had a strong love for her many grandchildren. She handled the management side of the game booths alongside her daughter, Debra Green with Casey’s Rides, Inc. Also, she traveled with her grandson, Michael House to handle games with Derby City Amusements. You would always see her with a smile since she loved being on the midway, from selling electric water guns and light ups to running a game or selling tickets. In the winter, Darlene enjoyed operating a long arm quilting business, also designing her own quilts to sell.
In addition to her parents, Darlene is preceded in death by her siblings, Clifford, Gene, Jerry, Leon, Denford, Lois Ann, Lonnie, and Sharon; and her son-in-law, Ronnie Link.
Darlene is survived by her children, Lavonda (Ricky)Graves, Shirley Link and Debbie (J.D.) Green; 7 grandchildren, Michael House, Calvin House, Bryan Graves, Justin Graves, Heather Clark, Cassondra Green and Wendell Green; 9 great-grandchildren, Makaela, Dylan, Dakota, Nathan, Isaiah, Lacey, Jastin, Shaylan and Everly and 2 great-great-grandchildren, Kingston and Paisley; and her siblings, James Lee Sanders, Glenn Sanders, Daniel Sanders, Kathy Richards, Karen Sanders and Joyce Sanders.
A funeral service will be 12:00 noon on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville, KY, with burial following at Fordsville Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Thursday, 10:00 a.m. to the time of service at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville, KY.
