Human remains were found in a garage on Sunday, according to the Owensboro Police Department.
According to OPD, patrol officers responded to a suspicious circumstance call in the 500 block of Hathaway Street just before noon on October 5.
“Upon arrival, officers spoke with the reporting party, who stated she discovered a deceased individual while cleaning out a detached garage,” the release says. “Officers confirmed the presence of human remains, which appeared to be in an advanced state of decomposition.”
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division, crime scene technicians from the Evidence Collection Unit, and the Daviess County Coroner’s Office responded to process the scene.
Authorities said the identity of the deceased and the manner of death remain undetermined at this time and are pending a forensic examination.
