Teen Week returns October 20-24 with a full slate of activities designed to empower local teens through hands-on learning, career exploration, and real-world preparation.

Organized by the Owensboro Youth Empowerment Summit (OYES) and the Daviess County Public Library, the weeklong event will feature workshops, a college fair, a job fair, and more — all free for students in grades 6-12.

“Each day offers a new opportunity for teens to build confidence, gain practical skills, and connect with local employers and educators,” said DeMarcus Curry with OYES.

The week kicks off on October 20, with a Teen Financial Workshop from 4-6 p.m. at the Dugan Best Recreation Center, 1003 Omega Street. Curry said students will learn the basics of money management, budgeting, and saving in an interactive setting.

On October 21, the Daviess County Public Library, 2020 Frederica Street, will host a College Fair from 3-6 p.m. High school students, particularly seniors, can meet with representatives from colleges, universities, and post-secondary programs to explore education options after graduation.

A Resume and Interview Workshop follows on October 22 from 4-6 p.m. at the library, giving students hands-on help in crafting resumes and preparing for job interviews. Volunteers are needed to assist with mock interviews and resume reviews.

Thursday’s Teen Job Fair, also from 4-6 p.m. at the library, will connect local employers with teens seeking part-time work. Businesses that hire teens are encouraged to participate by reserving a table.

The week concludes October 24 with a Code Red Workshop from 4–6 p.m. at the Daviess County Cooperative Extension Service, 4800 New Hartford Road A. The interactive session will teach teens how to stay safe and respond in emergency situations. Registration and parental consent are required for this event, and sign-ups are available here.
