First responders are on the scene of a natural gas line break downtown, according to the Owensboro Fire Department. Authorities said Owensboro Municipal Utilities has de-energized power lines in the area, leaving some customers without power as crews respond to the incident.
According to a social media post from OFD, the line break is near West 2nd Street and Woodford Avenue. OFD is asking people to avoid the area and “be understanding of the disruption in natural gas and/electric service during the emergency repair.”
A social media post from OMU said that “At the request of the Owensboro Fire Department and in the interest of public safety, we have de-energized power lines in a portion of the downtown area. Approximately 350 customers are without power.”
