A section of KY 81 is currently shut down following a crash that caused significant utility damage and a gas leak near the Dollar General Store, according to the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office.

A release from DCSO says that emergency crews were dispatched at approximately 4:23 p.m. to the 7100 block of KY 81. Deputies said a northbound passenger vehicle left the roadway for unknown reasons, striking multiple utilities. Authorities said there is a downed line and a gas leak.

The driver, who was the only person in the vehicle, was taken by AMR ambulance to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital with a possible head injury, officials said.

The Daviess County Fire Department, Mosleyville Fire Department, and AMR assisted at the scene. The roadway remained closed for several hours while utility crews worked to repair damage and restore service.
