Joyfull Java and Juice — a sister business to Joy’s Cooking Classes — is expanding once again, introducing a new pickup window to make it easier for customers to grab their favorite drinks and meals on the go.

Owner Ashley Webb said the update comes just two years after opening the café and marks another step in the steady growth of her family’s business at 3811 KY 54. Webb also owns Joy’s Cooking Classes, which she opened six years ago before launching the café in 2023.

“When we started with the cooking classes, COVID hit three months later,” Webb said. “That’s when we began meal prep, which really helped us get through all of that. Then my love for coffee and smoothies came together through that journey — and that’s how Joyfull Java and Juice was born.”

The café has built a loyal following for its fresh juices, smoothies, and specialty coffee drinks, but Webb said she’s still meeting people who didn’t know it existed.

“I have people from Lake Forest who drive by every day and tell me they just discovered us,” she said. “We’re trying to get the word out that we have a special little place with joy in it.”

The café’s name carries deep personal meaning. Webb said it honors both sides of her family — her mother’s middle name is Jo, her mother-in-law’s is Joyce, and her daughter’s middle name is Joy. That joy carries through the menu, which she said is inspired by the Fruits of the Spirit — love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Smoothies like Green Goodness and Peaceful Sunshine reflect that theme.

The menu has expanded well beyond drinks, now offering sandwiches, wraps, and breakfast items like the maple waffle sandwich and breakfast burrito, along with acai bowls, flatbreads, and gluten-free baked goods. Among the most popular coffee creations are the banana bread latte and honey bun latte.

With the new pickup window, customers can place and pay for orders online through the café’s website or by phone, then drive through to pick them up. Webb said DoorDash service is also coming soon.

“It’s just another level of convenience,” Webb said. “A lot of our customers have kids or don’t want to get out in bad weather. Now they won’t have to drag babies out of the car or run in when it’s raining. It’s also something you usually only see from big corporate coffee shops — so we’re excited to offer that as a small business.”

The expansion came after the neighboring unit became available, and Webb said the timing was perfect. Her husband, who runs Webb Insurance Group, needed office space, and the landlord suggested adding a window for the café.

“New things are always scary — expansions are always scary,” she said. “The only way I get through is by trusting that God’s going to provide and make a way.”

Joyfull Java and Juice is open 6 a.m.–7 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays, 6 a.m.–6 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays, and 8 a.m.–3 p.m. Saturdays, with limited Sunday hours being considered.

Webb credited her team for helping make it all possible.

“I couldn’t do it without my staff,” she said. “I have the best help in the world.”
