Barney W. “Buck” DeJarnette, age 87 of Hardinsburg, KY, passed away November 8, 2025, at his residence. He was born in McQuady, KY on December 4, 1937, son of the late William Ernest and Louie Wade DeJarnette.
In 1962, he and his wife Bonnie purchased the Kirv Inn restaurant and operated it in the original building until 1972, when they built a new one and changed the name to Jackie’s Restaurant. Several years later, they purchased Willoughby’s Restaurant and Motel, which later became the Human Resources office. They have served many families and friends over the years, providing a place where people felt comfortable, had a good meal and made many memories. He and Bonnie spent many years in Panama City, FL where they owned and renovated rental properties. He stayed busy all the time and was very independent – he was a jack of all trades and master of none.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Billie Mae “Bill” Quiggins and brother Darren Dale “Punk” DeJarnette.
