OWENSBORO, Ky. — Life Community Church will host “Faith Meets Sight” on November 8 and 9, a weekend event featuring a free community movie screening and a special Sunday message from Dr. Ming Wang, the world-renowned eye surgeon and humanitarian whose life inspired the 2023 film Sight.
The weekend begins Saturday, November 8 at 6:30 p.m. with a free public showing of Sight at Life Community Church. The film tells the true story of Dr. Wang’s journey from poverty during China’s Cultural Revolution to becoming one of the leading ophthalmologists in the world and a man of deep Christian faith.
On Sunday, November 9 at 10:00 a.m., Dr. Wang will speak in person, sharing how his story of adversity, innovation, and faith has shaped his life’s mission to restore both physical and spiritual sight.
“Dr. Wang’s story is extraordinary because it bridges two worlds people often see as opposite,” said Pastor Michael Edwards, Lead Pastor at Life Community Church. “He faced incredible hardship and still found hope and purpose. His life reminds us that faith and science can walk hand in hand.”
Life Community Church received special permission from Dr. Wang to host the Sight screening for the Owensboro community.
“We’re excited to open our doors for this weekend,” said Pastor Michael. “Our goal is to create space for stories that bring hope and healing. Whether you work in healthcare or you’re simply looking for encouragement, this weekend will speak to you.”
Both events are free and open to everyone. No tickets are required.
