Matt Galloway is seeking election as Daviess County Clerk, saying his background in management and process improvement would help make the office more efficient, transparent, and accessible for the community it serves.

Galloway, 35, is running as a Republican. He is a lifelong Daviess County resident who graduated from Brescia University and is now raising his family in Owensboro. He said the Clerk’s Office plays a direct role in nearly every household, and he believes his experience positions him to strengthen both customer service and internal operations.

“I’ve always really appreciated everything this community has offered,” he said. “I feel confident that I have the skills to make the office more efficient and improve the employee and customer experience, while leading with honesty and integrity. I feel that I can lead that office well and serve our community well.”

Galloway works in management, overseeing quality and continuous improvement projects. He said his career has included leadership roles in inventory control, production planning, and workforce optimization. Those skills, he said, translate well to a high-volume public office where residents rely on timely service for vehicle registration, marriage licenses, and election administration.

“One of the key things I want is to have the most well-trained and efficient office in the state,” he said. “I’d love to analyze our processes and figure out where we have waste we can improve on. Reducing wait times would be a huge priority. Everybody’s busy, so I want to make sure we value their time.”

Galloway said election integrity and transparency would also be central to his approach.

“I want to definitely make sure that we have honest and transparent elections,” he said. “If there’s ever an issue that comes up, I want to have that out to the community and let them know the team will be taking care of it. Building that community trust would be paramount.”

He said he wants the office to serve residents regardless of how they prefer to communicate or conduct their business.

“As we advance technologically, that’s great, and I want us to grow with it,” he said. “But I also want to make sure we serve residents who prefer all forms of communication. I don’t want to leave anyone behind.”

Galloway said he also hopes to focus on employee development, saying a strong internal culture leads to better service.

“A huge passion of mine is growing and building teams,” he said. “I’d really look forward to learning the skill set of each team member and helping them grow, both individually and to help the office. I want them to feel fulfilled in the work they’re doing to serve the community.”

Though this is his first run for public office, Galloway said he has considered seeking the Clerk’s seat for several years and felt now was the right time.

“It’s something I’ve been thinking on for quite some time,” he said. “Just the way this office touches so many parts of our community, I felt strongly I could help. I’d love for people to feel like they can approach me, and that I have an open door.”

Galloway has volunteered in several community programs, including the I Can Shine bike camp during his time at Brescia, the First Tee of Owensboro, and the Daviess County girls’ golf team. He said those experiences reinforced the value of service and helping others grow.

“It was fun helping people learn and grow and seeing them succeed,” he said. “That’s something I want to bring to public service.”

If elected, he said residents can expect transparency, responsiveness, and data-driven decision-making.

“The community has my promise that I will not be outworked,” Galloway said. “All decisions I make would be based on real data. When changes are being made, I want people to know I’ve considered all aspects, and if there’s a cost involved, that there’s real value in the return. I’d welcome anyone to bring any concern to my attention, and as a team we’ll work through any issues.”

He added, “I just want to serve the community to the best of my ability.”
