Owensboro Public Schools and Daviess County Public Schools approved their 2026-27 calendars on Thursday, with both districts once again aligning most major dates.
Opening day for staff is set for Aug. 5, and the first day for students will be Aug. 6 for both districts.
Both calendars include a flex professional development day on Sept. 4 — the Friday before Labor Day — giving families a four-day weekend. DCPS students will also be out Sept. 18 for a district PD day.
Fall Breaks largely line up. DCPS will be out Oct. 9-16. OPS also won’t have school on Oct. 9 due to a flex parent-teacher conference day, with its official break running Oct. 12-16.
Thanksgiving Break runs Nov. 25-27 for both districts. Christmas Break begins Dec. 21, with students returning Jan. 5 for both OPS and DCPS.
Additional four-day weekends are scheduled for Feb. 12-15 and March 19-22 at both districts, created by a combination of PD, flex PD, and parent-teacher conference days.
Spring Break differs slightly across the districts: OPS will be out April 5-9, while DCPS will be off April 2-9.
The last day for students in both districts is May 18.
