
Mary Stella Howard Nash, 100 of Whitesville, passed away at her home on Saturday, November 22, 2025. Stella was born on April 12, 1925 in Whitesville to the late William Paul and Susan Elizabeth Hardesty Howard. She was a homemaker and a friend to many, known for her quick wit and ability to make everyone laugh and feel welcome in her cozy home. Stella enjoyed gardening, quilting, sewing and praying the Rosary. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family. She was a true inspiration to all she met.
In addition to her parents, Stella is preceded in death by her husband, Ishmael “Eck” Nash; her sons, Paul, Randy and Earl; and her grandsons, Phillip and Brad Nash.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Leon (Rose Mary) Nash, Wilson (Linda) Nash, Allen (Robin) Nash, Kenny (Sheila) Nash and her daughter, Sue (Rick) Fisher; daughters-in-law, Sally and Jackie Nash; 31 grandchildren, 90 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to St. Mary of the Woods, Angels for Ashley or Hospice of Western Kentucky.
A Funeral Mass will be said on Saturday, November 29, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church in Whitesville, KY, with burial following at St. Mary of the Woods Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, November 28, 2025 at Cecil Funeral Home in Whitesville, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with prayers at 6:30 p.m.
