A beloved local tradition lit up once again Friday as the Owensboro Christmas Lights display returned to the Stonegate neighborhood for its 25th year. The free, community-driven event is centered around the Lashbrook family’s home and has grown into one of the area’s most iconic holiday attractions.
The lights will be on display nightly through the season, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and from 5 to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Hours may vary during inclement weather.
The Lashbrook family has spent decades building the display, which now features more than 300,000 lights and a variety of classic Christmas scenes. Each year, neighborhood homes join in with their own decorations while additional drive-by and walk-through setups are added throughout the subdivision.
The display has gained attention beyond the local community, including a feature on ABC’s The Great Christmas Light Fight in 2014. In 2018, the family introduced a new fan favorite — Fred, a 20-foot-tall 3D snowman made up of more than 10,000 lights.
Visitors can begin their tour at 4567 Indian Creek Loop, located off KY 54 on the east side of Owensboro. Guests are welcome to drive through or explore on foot using sidewalks and custom-built pathways. Organizers ask that everyone stay on designated paths to prevent damage and avoid safety hazards.
Donations are accepted on-site to support local charities. For those seeking shorter lines and smaller crowds, weekday visits are encouraged.
