It is with full hearts that we celebrate the life of Lesalie Stengell, a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, and beloved friend, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 29, 2025 surrounded by family following her long battle with cancer.
Born on March 20th, 1950, Lesalie grew into a woman whose kindness and strength shaped everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She built a home grounded in love, patience, and generosity, one where family gathered, laughter flourished, and every person felt cared for.
As a mother, she was our constant guide and our biggest supporter. She taught us how to be brave, how to be kind, and how to find grace in even the smallest moments. As a Nana, she was pure magic, offering warm hugs, endless encouragement, and stories that made the world feel bigger and more beautiful.
She had a gift for making people feel seen. Whether through a home-cooked meal or a quiet moment of understanding, Lesalie made life gentler for those around her. Her traditions, wisdom, and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and all who loved her. Though we will miss her deeply, we find comfort in knowing that her love remains with us, woven into our lives and memories.
Lesalie is predeceased by her parents Leon and Virginia Hicks and husband, Richard Stengell. She is survived by two brothers Leon Hicks (Brenda) of Guntersville, Alabama and Rob Hicks (Arlene) of Central Oahu, Hawaii and three daughters, Heather Henderson (Darold) of Springfield, Missouri, Kari Hicks (Robert) of Springfield, Missouri, and Kristen Potter, of Midvale, Utah, along with seven grandchildren including Morgan Newman, Logan Hough (Brian), August Potter, Leo Potter, Jamie Hicks, Kylie Henderson and Carolina Potter who will forever carry her light forward.
The family will be having a celebration of her life to be held on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 8:00pm at Plaza Towers, 1736 East Sunshine,
Springfield, Missouri, where we will gather to honor the extraordinary woman she was. Graveside services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2025 at 10:00 am at Resurrection Cemetery in Owensboro, Kentucky care of Haley McGinnis Funeral Home.
