A second suspect has been arrested in connection with a June homicide, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

Previous reports from OPD said officers responded shortly before midnight on June 29, 2025, to reports of a disturbance and gunfire in the 1800 block of Hughes Avenue. Upon arrival, police said, they found two individuals suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Records show 30-year-old Joshua Hardison was found in a bedroom with a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to police.

Records show that 52-year-old Kelly Anderson was located in the living room of the apartment with a gunshot wound to the chest. She was transported to OHRH with injuries that were not life-threatening.

The initial release said that two individuals were still inside the apartment when officers arrived and were taken to the Owensboro Police Department for questioning, and that two firearms were recovered from the scene.

Following the initial investigation, 24-year-old Jonathan Brown of Owensboro was arrested and charged with murder, first-degree burglary, first-degree assault, and first-degree wanton endangerment (discharge of a firearm).

According to OPD, detectives presented additional evidence to the Daviess County Grand Jury, which returned an indictment against 29-year-old Mitchell McGuire. Officials said he was taken into custody in Louisville by the U.S. Marshals Task Force on November 24 and was booked into the Daviess County Detention Center on December 3.

McGuire is charged with murder, first-degree burglary, first-degree wanton endangerment (discharge of a firearm), first-degree assault, and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Simmons at 270-687-8873 or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers at 270-687-8484 or through their Facebook page.
