It was a positive night for the local teams as McLean County and Owensboro Catholic both won.
McLean County 51, Dawson Springs 45
Camden Baird scored 24 points, and Layden Bozarth added 10 points in the Cougars’ 51-45 win over Dawson Springs. They are now 2-0 on the season.
Owensboro Catholic 91, Butler County 41
Jake Murphy hit seven threes to go along with his team-high 22 points, and Solly Smith added 18 points in the Aces’ 91-45 win over Butler County. Gavin Brasher was third on the team in scoring with 17 points, while Zander Reisz and Braylon Coots both added 10 points.
“I am extremely pleased with our team’s effort tonight. We have spoken all off-season of how dangerous our offensive parity can make us this year and I think tonight gave us a little glimpse into that,” Owensboro Catholic Head Coach Tabor Shadowen said. “On the defensive end, we’ve made strides in being quicker to jump to the ball and be in to help.”
