Donald Dean Dowell, 87, of Utica, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born on May 16, 1938 in Terra Haute, IN to the late Roy and Cleo Dooley Dowell. Donald retired from Texas Gas as a corporate pilot, served in the Airforce Reserves and was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Ann O’Neil Dowell; son, Donald Dewayne Dowell; and brother, Bill Dowell.
Survivors include his daughter, Star McKay (Dennis); three grandchildren, Kaycee Workman (Austin), Dylan McKay (Casey) and Dakota McKay; four great-grandchildren, Dasan McKay, Dax McKay, Raynee Workman and Austin McKay-Gardner; and sister, Nita Ennen.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, December 13, 2025 at James H. Davis Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will follow the service at St. Peters Cemetery in Stanley. Visitation will be from 10:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday at the funeral home.
