Susan Jane Rutherford, age 72 of Stephensport, KY passed away December 18, 2025, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. She was born in Titusville, FL on April 27, 1953, daughter of the late William Henry and Katherine Elizabeth Wilhite Seitz.
She was a member of English Baptist Church where she was very involved with church activities. Susan retired from the Breckinridge County Board of Education where she spent many years transporting her precious students to and from school. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, digging her toes in the sand on her favorite beaches and cooking her favorite meals for her family. Susan was not only a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, she was “Nana” to everyone including former students and friends. She was the matriarch of faith in her family.
Susan is survived by her husband Ernie Rutherford. They married October 20, 1973.

Daughter – Samantha Southern of Hardinsburg, KY
3 grandchildren – Dominic Davis, Kathryn Davis and Morgan Davis
3 great grandchildren – Maverick Davis, Ettalynn Davis and Koba Singleton
2 brothers – William Seitz of Stephensport, KY and Dennis Seitz of Florida
Several aunts, uncles, cousins and their families.
Visitation will be held at Trent-Dowell Funeral Home on Monday, December 22, 2025, from 9 AM – 12 PM with cremation to follow.
Expressions of sympathy are requested to the funeral home to assist with expenses.
