Hancock County jumped out to a 14-point first-half lead and held off a late surge to beat Trinity (Whitesville) 65-59. Ansley House (18 points, 10 rebounds) and Madyson Higdon (12 points, 13 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles, and Izzy Ross had 12 points and seven rebounds.
For the Lady Raiders, Ry’Lynne Meserve scored 12 of his team-high 17 points in the first half, and Olivia Starks recorded 11 points. Preslee Meserve hit two threes to go along with her 10 points, and Ella Morris was fourth on the team in scoring with eight points.
“We dug a hole going down by 14 points in the first half,” Trinity (Whitesville) Head Coach Emily Hernandez said. “We made runs, but were unable to overcome a big deficit.”
Both teams will be back in action today, with Hancock County taking on Hart County, and Trinity (Whitesville) facing Ohio County.
