OPD: Two people injured in two shootings

Two people have been injured in two shootings, and one of their injuries is considered life-threatening, according to the Owensboro Police Department.

According to OPD, patrol officers responded shortly after 7 p.m. on Jan. 2 to a reported shooting victim in the 600 block of Sycamore Street. A male victim with life-threatening injuries was taken to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital (OHRH), and his current condition is unknown at this time, officials said.

OPD said that officers then responded to a second reported shooting shortly before 7:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of West 9th Street. There, patrol officers located a female victim with non-life-threatening injuries who is currently receiving medical treatment at OHRH.

Patrol officers are processing both crime scenes, while detectives have responded and are continuing the investigation, officials said.
