Longtime housing and construction industry leader Bill Jagoe has officially entered the race for Central Daviess County Commissioner.
Jagoe, 65, is running as a Democrat and says his campaign will focus on transparent leadership, responsible spending, and long-term planning for the future of Daviess County.
“As taxpayers, people deserve honesty, clarity, and results,” Jagoe said. “I’m running to make sure county government communicates openly, spends responsibly, and always keeps the interests of the people first. Every dollar we spend should improve the quality of life and strengthen the future of Daviess County.”
Jagoe said his background gives him a unique ability to bridge the gap between government and the private sector, particularly as the County faces a projected shortfall of nearly 4,000 affordable housing units.
“Daviess County is at a crossroads. We cannot expect 20th-century solutions to solve 21st-century problems,” he said. “I’ve spent my career building homes, managing budgets, and forming partnerships across the country. I know how to control costs, streamline development, and deliver results while remaining transparent and accountable to taxpayers.”
Jagoe’s platform includes expanding workforce housing and townhome options through public-private partnerships, supporting law enforcement and emergency responders with adequate resources, and promoting responsible economic development that grows the tax base without overburdening residents.
“Strong communities are built on trust,” Jagoe said. “When government is transparent, fiscally responsible, and focused on the long term, people feel confident about where they live. I’m running to ensure Daviess County remains a place where our children and grandchildren can live, work, and raise families.”
Jagoe lives in Owensboro with his family and said he has been active in local civic organizations for years.
