Over the weekend, Burns Middle School made history, winning its first-ever cheerleading National Championship. Traveling to Orlando, Florida, for the 2026 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship, they beat out 17 teams in the Junior High Non-Tumble Game Day division.
“This marks the first national championship in school for Burns Middle School, a milestone achievement for the program and the school community,” Burns Middle School Head Coach Robyn Ebelhar said. “The team’s performance showcased strong leadership, sharp execution, and exceptional school spirit, setting them apart on the national stage.”
Burns Middle School finished first in the semi-finals with a score of 87.7 and improved upon that score by almost four points in the finals, recording a 91.1. They won the division by 5.7 points.
“The championship team is led by me and Sara Lanham, whose dedication and commitment helped guide the athletes through a highly competitive season,” Ebelhar said. “Our leadership, combined with the athletes’ hard work and resilience, culminated in a historic victory for Burns Middle School. This national title represents not only a competitive triumph, but also a proud moment for the entire Burns community, celebrating teamwork, perseverance, and excellence.”
