Daviess County beat Apollo, and Trinity (Whitesville) stunned Grayson County. In other action, Hancock County lost at home.
Daviess County 69, Apollo 26
Kennedy Lane was a perfect 3-3 from deep as she scored a career high 32 points to power the Lady Panthers past Apollo 69-32. Riley Hayden added 11 points and three rebounds, while Molly Hancock finished with 10 points and three steals.
“I was really proud of our execution,” Daviess County Head Coach Natalie Payne said. “We made the right plays at the right time. Kennedy Lane was phenomenal despite being face-guarded for four quarters. She wasn’t going to be denied.”
For the E-Gals, LaShay Vera led the way with 13 points, while Aubrey Johnson and Maleah Potter both had six points.
Meade County 56, Hancock County 30
Carolina Jones scored 10 points, and Ansley House added six points and nine rebounds as the Lady Hornets fell to Meade County 56-30. Madyson Higdon finished with five points and 11 rebounds, and Izzy Ross recorded five points and eight rebounds.
Trinity (Whitesville) 61, Grayson County 57
Trailing 16-4 entering the second quarter, the Lady Raiders were able to rally back and hand Grayson County only their fifth loss, beating them 61-57. Preslee Meserve led the way with 23 points, and Ry’Lynne Meserve and Ella Morris both finished with 17 points.
“We have been concentrating on defense, getting deflections, and finishing with a rebound,” Trinity (Whitesville) Head Coach Emily Hernandez said. “The girls all did that tonight. They were working together defensively, and all boxed out and finished with a rebound.”
