Having punched their ticket to the 2026 KHSAA Boys’ State Bowling Championship, Daviess County rolled 1181 in the qualifying round and secured the fourth seed for the bracket stage. In the first two rounds, the Panthers took care of St. Xavier and Johnson Central 3-2, before falling to the eventual state champs, Trinity (Louisville), in the semi-finals.

“The coaching staff is very proud of how the boys performed both on and off the lanes,” Daviess County girls Head Coach Casey Carroll said. “While strikes and spares are instrumental to advancing, others held their own and kept their teammates’ spirits up throughout the day. This is the farthest Head Coach Jimmy Carroll has taken the boys since taking over the role, and he’s ready to rally back again next season.”

In the opener against #13 St. Xavier, the Panthers dropped the first game 191-211, before winning the next three 234-173, 174-132, and 204-180 to win the match 3-1. Against #12 Johnson Central, it was back-and-forth, with each team exchanging baker games. Tied 2-2, the Panthers won the final game 203-175 to take the match.

Daviess County dropped the first two baker games against #1 Trinity 203-234 and 192-220, but won the third game 250-206. They ran out of steam in the fourth game, dropping it 173-186.

“Kason Smith, Lucas Tincher, and Alec Jones were instrumental today,” Carroll said. “They each held their own in the anchor position when the time counted. Each shooting strikes when it mattered most. Kason with 12, Lucas with nine, and Alec with three.”
