
Thelma Marie Slaughter, 75, of Lewisburg passed away on Monday, February 23rd, 2026 at the Medical Center in Bowling Green, KY. She was born in Muhlenberg County on May 1st, 1950, the daughter of the late Richard Lear and Gracie Ann Mayes Lear. She was a faithful member of the Lord’s church and found great joy in worship and song. She especially loved to sing. She was a devoted housewife and homemaker. Her greatest joy in life was her children and grandchildren. She also treasured her friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Michael Slaughter, one son, Christopher Paul Blake, one brother, Bro. James Roy Lear, and a sister Linda Knight.
Funeral services will be held at Freedom General Baptist Church in Greenville, KY on Friday, February 27th at 1:00 PM with Rev. Darrell Dakin officiating, assisted by Rev. Jonathan Skipworth and Rev. Tony Blake. Burial will follow at Slaughter Cemetery in Clifty, KY.
She is survived by three sons, Tony (Carol) Blake, Billy (Christy) Dewayne Christmas, and Kevin (Kelsey) Christmas; one daughter, Anna (Jonathan) Skipworth; one step-son, Richard (Nicole) Woodson Slaughter; thirteen grandchildren, Tiffany (Michael) Byard, Christopher (Cayla) Paul Blake, Benjamin (Emily) Thomas Blake, Brooklyn Danielle (Eric) Wilson, Cody Dewayne (Christina) Christmas, Charity Faith (Noah) Deberry, Caanan Houston (Hopelynn) Christmas, Drake Slaughter, Gracie Marie Skipworth, Payton Gabbriella Holmes, Drake Alan Holmes, John Dewayne Christmas, and Jolyne Christmas; seven great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.
Visitation for family and friends will be on February 27th at Freedom General Baptist Church from 12:00 PM until time of service at 1:00 PM.
